Arizona Cardinals:
Comment on these NFL Rumors
2/22: Kevin Minter said he wants to sign with the Jets. -
Minter's wish is to be reunited with Todd Bowles. Minter is seventh in our NFL Free Agent Inside Linebacker Rankings. -Walter

2/22: The Cardinals are expected to show interest in Pierre Garcon. - Kent Somers, AZCentral Sports
Larry Fitzgerald may not be around much longer, while Michael Floyd is gone. Garcon would be a great No. 2. He's third in our NFL Free Agent Wide Receiver Rankings. -Walter

2/21: The Cardinals have no interest in Jay Cutler. - Kent Somers, AZCentral Sports
Peter King speculated that Cutler could go to Arizona, but apparently that won't be the case. The Cardinals have stated that they want a long-term answer at quarterback. -Walter

2/20: It wouldn't be shocking to see Jay Cutler sign with the Cardinals. - Peter King, MMQB
Cutler would back up Carson Palmer for a year, though he'd probably see time in 2017 because of how injury-prone Palmer is. Cutler would then start in 2018 and beyond. This would be a nice move for Arizona, as Cutler seems like a great fit in Bruce Arians' offense. -Walter

2/14: The Cardinals have said that they will use the franchise tag on Chandler Jones if they can't reach a long-term agreement. -
Arizona would be foolish to let Jones get away, as he's one of the best pass-rushers in the NFL. Jones is listed atop our NFL Free Agent Defensive End Rankings. -Walter

2/9: Carson Palmer has announced his return to the NFL. -
Palmer was rumored to be headed into retirement, but he'll return for his 15th season. It's been speculated that Palmer and Larry Fitzgerald were tied at the hip, so we can assume Fitzgerald will return as well. We have Arizona taking Palmer's successor in the third round of the 2017 NFL Mock Draft. -Walter

2/1: Carson Palmer has moved his family out of Arizona and sold his home. - Mike Jurecki, FOX Sports
Palmer hinted at retirement, and this is an even stronger sign. Palmer could still return for one year, but no one should be surprised if he hangs up his cleats. -Walter

1/29: Carson Palmer retiring this offseason is a serious possibility. - Ian Rapoport, NFL Network
According to Ian Rapoport, Palmer is "tired [and] worn down, and trying to see how his body responds." This was evident by Palmer's play in 2016, as he struggled in many games. One prominent NFL general manager told Rapoport that Palmer has played his final down in the NFL. If all of this is true, the Cardinals NFL Team Needs page will be updated. -Walter

Atlanta Falcons:
Comment on these NFL Rumors
2/18: Earl Mitchell is visiting the Seahawks, Falcons, 49ers and Broncos. - Mike Garafolo, NFL Network
Mitchell is No. 17 in the NFL Free Agent Defensive Tackle Rankings, so the team that signs him shouldn't be too excited. -Walter

Baltimore Ravens:
Comment on these NFL Rumors
2/26: Matt Elam was arrested on felony drug charges last night, prompting the Ravens too announce that he's not in their long-term plans. -
Elam missed all of 2015 with a torn bicep, and most of 2016 with a knee issue. Elam now has drug charges added to his resume, so he may never play in the NFL again.  -Walter

2/25: Ravens assistant general manager Eric DeCosta said he wants to add a possession receiver this offseason. -
There will be options in free agency, and the draft is deep at receiver. Here's a look at our 2017 NFL Draft Wide Receiver Prospect Rankings. -Walter

2/13: The Ravens aren't expected to re-sign OT Ricky Wagner. - Jeff Zrebiec, Baltimore Sun
The Ravens are prioritizing other free agents and believe they can obtain a cheaper replacement for Wagner, who had a great year. Wagner is No. 2 in our NFL Free Agent Offensive Tackle Rankings. -Walter

2/2: The Ravens would inquire about Brandon Marshall if the Jets release him. - Jeff Zrebiec, Baltimore Sun
Marshall is the type of big possession receiver Joe Flacco has enjoyed throwing to over the years. He hasn't had one in the past couple of seasons, however. -Walter

1/11: Ozzie Newsome told the media that the Ravens could sign a veteran receiver in free agency this season. -
Some of the top free agent veteran wideouts include Alshon Jeffery and Pierre Garcon. -Walter

Buffalo Bills:
Comment on these NFL Rumors
2/24: Kyle Williams' roster spot is "vulnerable." - Vic Carucci, Buffalo News
The Bills need to free up cap space to re-sign Tyrod Taylor, and Williams' cap number is north of $8 million. -Walter

2/21: It's more likely that the Bills will keep Tyrod Taylor than not. - Ian Rapoport, NFL Network
Previous and more confident reports have said that the Bills will move on from Taylor. If the Bills keep Taylor, they'll have to pay him about $31 million over the next two years. -Walter

2/17: The Bills plan on "chugging along" with a Nick Foles-type backup in 2017 and then starting over. - Ty Dunne, NFL Reporter
The Bills will apparently be moving on from Tyrod Taylor. There will be plenty of talented quarterbacks next year; check out my 2018 NFL Mock Draft. -Walter

2/2: The Bills have a strong interest in Tony Romo. - Jason La Canfora, CBS
Romo may not want to go there, however. He wants to play for a winner, and Buffalo has just one viable downfield threat, Sammy Watkins, who hasn't been able to stay healthy. -Walter

1/25: Lorenzo Alexander is not a system fit for Buffalo's new defense. - Mike Rodak, ESPN
It's nice a good sign for the Bills that their new regime can't cater the system to their best player. Coaches who value system over personnel always fail. Alexander notched 12.5 sacks in 2016. He's No. 2 in our NFL Free Agent Outside Linebacker Rankings. -Walter

Carolina Panthers:
Comment on these NFL Rumors
2/20: Victor Cruz met with the Panthers this weekend. - Bill Voth, Black and Blue Review
The Panthers need help at wideout, but Cruz isn't the answer, as he hasn't been the same since tearing his patellar tendon. Cruz is 18th in our NFL Free Agent Wide Receiver Rankings. -Walter

2/2: Ron Rivera told ESPN that "our top runner can't be our quarterback." -
Jonathan Stewart is an injury-prone 30-year-old, so the Panthers will strongly consider Leonard Fournette (or even Dalvin Cook) if he falls to them at No. 8. Fournette is second on our 2017 NFL Draft Big Board. -Walter

1/11: It's possible that the Panthers will release Jonathan Stewart this offseason. - David Newton, ESPN
Cutting Stewart, 30 in March, would save more than $6 million in cap space. -Walter

Chicago Bears:
Comment on these NFL Rumors
2/21: The Bears have been seeking a trade partner for Jay Cutler. - Adam Schefter, ESPN
Good luck with that, Chicago. Even a deal for an eighth-round pick seems unlikely. Cutler should be released soon. -Walter

2/2: The Bears are highly interested in trading for Jimmy Garoppolo. - Jason La Canfora, CBS
La Canfora cites that getting Garoppolo is Chicago's top priority. Also, the Bears aren't willing to surrender the third-overall pick. Chicago's second-rounder is a fair price. -Walter

Cincinnati Bengals:
Comment on these NFL Rumors
2/20: Andre Smith could re-sign with the Bengals. - Paul Dehner, Cincinnati Enquirer
Smith spent one season with the Vikings, and he barely played because of torn triceps. Smith thrived in Cincinnati for the most part. He's No. 10 in our NFL Free Agent Offensive Tackle Rankings. -Walter

2/9: The Bengals are expected to let Kevin Zeitler leave free agency. - Paul Dehner, Cincinnati Enquirer
If so, Cincinnati will lose one of the top guards in the NFL. Zeitler, who ranks No. 1 in our NFL Free Agent Guard Rankings, is set to earn a mammoth contract this offseason. -Walter

1/27: The Bengals could release Pacman Jones this offseason. -
Jones was arrested on four charges this month, and the Bengals would save $6.8 million by releasing him. Jones has been great over the years, but showed signs of regression in 2016. He'll turn 34 in September. -Walter

Cleveland Browns:
Comment on these NFL Rumors
2/18: Terrelle Pryor won't be franchise tagged. - Albert Breer, NFL Network
It was reported earlier that Pryor would be tagged. Pryor will command a big contract, as he's listed atop the NFL Free Agent Wide Receiver Rankings. -Walter

2/15: Terrelle Pryor has told his agents that he wants to stay in Cleveland. - Mary Kay Cabot , Cleveland Plain-Dealer
This has to be thrilling for the Browns, as Pryor is atop the NFL Free Agent Wide Receiver Rankings. The Browns have a ton of cap space, so they can afford to keep Pryor. -Walter

2/14: New Browns QB coach David Lee likes Tyrod Taylor "a lot." - Mary Kay Cabot , Cleveland Plain-Dealer
Lee worked with Taylor for two years in Buffalo. Taylor is a solid starting quarterback who would be a massive upgrade over what the Browns currently have. He'd provide some stability, though signing him wouldn't preclude Cleveland from taking a quarterback on Day 2 of the 2017 NFL Draft. Check here for the 2017 NFL Draft Quarterback Prospect Rankings. -Walter

2/1: The Browns will try to trade for Jimmy Garoppolo this offseason. - Mary Kay Cabot , Cleveland Plain-Dealer
It makes sense, as the Browns will miss out on the top quarterback(s) if they select Myles Garrett No. 1 overall. NFL team sources believe Garoppolo is worth a second-day pick, so the Browns could trade No. 33 to the Patriots.  -Walter

1/23: Terrelle Pryor will likely be franchise tagged. - Jason La Canfora, CBS
Jamie Collins has been re-signed, so the Browns can franchise their other prominent free agent. Pryor is atop our NFL Free Agent Wide Receiver Rankings. -Walter

1/19: The Browns have made significant progress in negotiations with Jamie Collins, and he could be re-signed by this weekend. - Jason La Canfora, CBS
This would be an important move for the Browns, as Collins is atop our 2017 NFL Free Agent Outside Linebacker Rankings.  -Walter

1/17: The Browns are expected to target Tyrod Taylor if the Bills release him. - Pat McManamon, ESPN
The Bills foolishly played games with Taylor and will likely be losing a solid quarterback as a result. Taylor seems like a decent fit for Hue Jackson's offense. -Walter

Dallas Cowboys:
Comment on these NFL Rumors
2/16: Tony Romo expects to be released. - Ed Werder, ESPN
The Cowboys would be able to trade Romo if he had a lower salary, but he simply costs too much right now. Romo will be slotted alongside Kirk Cousins in the NFL Free Agent Quarterback Rankings once he's cut. -Walter

2/5: Adrian Peterson could sign with the Cowboys this offseason. - Adam Schefter, ESPN
Peterson would give up the opportunity to start, which he would have if he were to sign with the Buccaneers and Giants. Then again, based on how he performed last year, it's unclear if Tampa Bay and New York would be willing to give him that chance. Peterson grew up near Dallas, and the Cowboys have shown interest in signing him. -Walter

2/5: DeMarcus Ware is "leaving the door open" for a return to the Cowboys. - Adam Schefter, ESPN
The Broncos have Shane Ray ready to take over for Ware, so the former Cowboy could return home, as the team needs help at defensive end if Randy Gregory can't play. Ware is 10th in our 2017 NFL Free Agent Defensive End Rankings. -Walter

2/3: The Cowboys are expected to re-sign Barry Church, and they're also expected to move on from Terrance Williams. - Todd Archer, ESPN
Neither should be a surprise. Church had a great year in 2016, while Williams has never lived up to his potential. I have the Cowboys finding Williams' replacement in my 2017 NFL Mock Draft. -Walter

2/1: "Terrell McClain is entering free agency, and the Cowboys want to bring him back. However, they plan to let McClain test the market and see what offers he gets before bidding on his contact." - Charlie Campbell, WalterFootball.com
McClain isn't rated highly in our 2017 NFL Free Agent Defensive Tackle Rankings, as he's 19th, so the Cowboys are wise not to overbid. -Walter

1/17: The Cowboys are expected to cut Tony Romo. - Todd Archer, ESPN
They'd like to trade him, but there are lots of hoops for them to go through, and teams already know that Dallas can't afford to keep him.  -Walter

1/16: Trading Tony Romo is the Cowboys' No. 1 priority this offseason. - Ian Rapoport, NFL Network
They almost have to send him packing, given the massive cap hit he carries. There will be tons of suitors, including the Texans, Bears, Jets and Bills. -Walter

Denver Broncos:
Comment on these NFL Rumors
2/22: The Broncos are expected to give Andrew Whitworth heavy consideration in free agency. - Nicki Jhabvala, Denver Post
Despite being 35, Andrew Whitworth is atop our NFL Free Agent Offensive Tackle Rankings. He would be a huge upgrade for Denver's poor offensive line. -Walter

-Walter

2/15: The Broncos haven't discussed signing Victor Cruz. - Mike Klis, 9 News Denver
It was reported yesterday by ESPN's Jeff Legwold that the Broncos have been working to meet with Cruz, so this is a contradictory report of sorts. Wide receiver is sixth in our Denver Broncos NFL Team Needs page. -Walter

2/15: The Broncos are working to meet with Victor Cruz. - Jeff Legwold, ESPN
Cruz struggled last year and appears to be done because of a torn patellar tendon. However, the Broncos are desperate for a third receiver, so it doesn't hurt to bring him in unless it costs more than the minimum. Cruz is 18th in our NFL Free Agent Wide Receiver Rankings. -Walter

2/10: The Broncos aren't likely to pursue Colin Kaepernick despite showing interest in him last year. - Nicki Jhabvala, Denver Post
And why would they? Kaepernick was one of the league's worst passers last year, only compiling stats in garbage time. Kaepernick would be a clear downgrade from both Trevor Siemian and Paxton Lynch. -Walter

1/30: The Broncos could sign Ted Ginn this offseason. - Cameron Wolfe, Denver Post
Ginn hasn't had success anywhere outside of Carolina, and he would be foolish to sign with a team that doesn't have a proven quarterback. He's 16th in the NFL Free Agent Wide Receiver Rankings. -Walter

1/29: The Broncos could have interest in Tony Romo if he becomes a free agent. - Mike Klis, 9 News Denver
Denver reportedly doesn't want to trade for Romo, but will be willing to sign him. Quarterback is No. 2 in our Broncos NFL Team Needs page. -Walter

1/25: Kendall Wright would be a good fit for the Broncos. - Cameron Wolfe, Denver Post
Wright got off to a great start in Tennessee, but struggled with his work ethic. If Wright puts forth maximum effort, he would make sense as a slot receiver to complement Demaryius Thomas and Emmanuel Sanders. Wright is currently 15th in the NFL Free Agent Wide Receiver Rankings. -Walter

Detroit Lions:
Comment on these NFL Rumors
2/24: Alan Branch is a fit for the Lions. - Paul Pasche, Oakland Press
Branch is a monstrous run-stuffer, and the Lions could be better in that regard. He also went to Michigan. Branch is 10th in our NFL Free Agent Defensive Tackle Rankings. -Walter

2/22: The Lions aren't expected to re-sign guard Larry Warford or defensive end Devin Taylor. - Dave Birkett, Detroit Free Press
Taylor struggled last year, while Warford is expected to be too expensive. Warford is No. 4 in our NFL Free Agent Guard Rankings. -Walter

2/21: Nickel cornerback K'Waun Williams has contract offers from the Jets, Dolphins, Lions and 49ers. - Matt Maiocco, CSN Bay Area
Williams was a solid nickel corner for the Browns before suffering an ankle injury that caused him to miss all of 2016. Williams is 21st in our NFL Free Agent Cornerback Rankings. -Walter

1/30: Larry Warford will not take a hometown discount. - Tim Twentyman, DetroitLions.com
Warford is one of the top NFL Free Agent Guards available. He's coming off a great year and deserves a huge contract. -Walter

1/28: The Lions are expected to have interest in Logan Ryan. - Michael Rothstein, ESPN
Detroit's general manager had a hand in picking Ryan when he was with the Patriots, so the connection is logical. The Lions need another corner, and Ryan is No. 4 in our 2017 NFL Free Agent Cornerback Prospect Rankings. -Walter

Green Bay Packers:
Comment on these NFL Rumors
2/16: Julius Peppers appears to be done in Green Bay. - Rob Demovsky, ESPN
Peppers has been linked to the Panthers, and he could go there, as it seems he won't be with the Packers next year. Peppers is 11th in our NFL Free Agent Defensive End Rankings. -Walter

1/28: The Packers want to re-sign Jared Cook. - Ian Rapoport, NFL Network
Cook has failed to meet expectations throughout his career, but came up big in the playoffs. Perhaps he'll continue to play well now that he's paired with a great quarterback. -Walter

1/28: The Panthers could have interest in Julius Peppers. - Scott Fowler, Charlotte Observer
Peppers played for the Panthers from 2002 to 2009. He performed well this past season, but he just turned 37 and could be a shell of his former self. Peppers is 11th in our NFL Free Agent Defensive End Rankings. -Walter

Houston Texans:
Comment on these NFL Rumors
2/5: The Patriots tried to trade for Johnathan Joseph this season. - Ian Rapoport, NFL Network
The deal was Jamie Collins for Joseph, but the Texans declined. Houston also declined a trade involving DeAndre Hopkins. The Patriots really like Joseph, so it's possible that the Texans could trade him to New England this offseason for draft picks. -Walter

2/1: The Texans are not a landing spot for Tony Romo. - Ian Rapoport, NFL Network
Romo will be too expensive for the Texans, who still have to pay Brock Osweiler. If the Texans go the veteran route, Jay Cutler is the most likely option. -Walter

1/16: A.J. Bouye said he wants to re-sign with the Texans. -
Bouye was one of the top cornerbacks in the NFL this past season, emerging as a star despite opening the year as the No. 4 cornerback. Expect the Texans to retain Bouye, but to cut another cornerback in the process. -Walter

Indianapolis Colts:
Comment on these NFL Rumors
2/15: The Colts are unlikely to re-sign Mike Adams. - Zak Keefer, Indianapolis Star
Adams is a talented player - he's No. 8 in our NFL Free Agent Safety Rankings - but he's 36, and Indianapolis' new front office wants to get younger. -Walter

2/13: Arthur Jones is "destined to be cut." - Stephen Holder, Indianapolis Star
Jones signed a 5-year, $33 million contract a couple of offseasons ago, but he's been a major bust. The Colts need to clean house of Ryan Grigson's mistakes. -Walter

2/13: Trent Cole won't be coming back to Indianapolis. - Zak Keefer, Indianapolis Star
Cole struggled to stay healthy last year, but wasn't bad when he was able to take the field. Rush linebacker was already high on the Indianapolis Colts Team Needs page. -Walter

Jacksonville Jaguars:
Comment on these NFL Rumors
2/20: At least one team, in addition to the Dolphins, is interested in trading for Julius Thomas. - Mike Kaye, First Coast News
It could be that the Jaguars or Thomas' agent leaked this to increase interest. Thomas is a lazy, overpaid tight end who has never been productive without Peyton Manning. Then again, he does have talent and can be obtained cheaply. -Walter

2/19: The Dolphins and Jaguars are discussing a trade involving Branden Albert and Julius Thomas. - Omar Kelly, Sun-Sentinel
It's unclear if this is a straight-up trade, or if there will be draft picks involved as well. The Dolphins would be dealing their injury-prone left tackle for Jacksonville's lazy, underachieving tight end. -Walter

2/17: The Jaguars are interested in Branden Albert. - Armando Salguero, Miami Herald
In other words, the Jaguars will be going from one injured left tackle to another. Albert can't stay healthy, but this apparently doesn't bother Jacksonville. Albert was reported to be released yesterday, but the Dolphins rescinded the move once they learned at least one team wanted to trade for him. Albert was a 2.5-star player in the NFL Free Agent Offensive Tackle Rankings for a few hours. -Walter

2/6: The Jaguars wish to re-sign Prince Amukamara. - Mike DiRocco, ESPN
The Jaguars obtained Amukamara on a 1-year "prove it" deal, and he rewarded him with some great play. Amukamara has had trouble staying healthy, but he missed only a couple of games in 2016. He'll command a higher price tag this offseason. He's currently No. 6 in our NFL Free Agent Cornerback Rankings. -Walter

1/17: The Jaguars are expected to cut Julius Thomas this offseason. - Mike DiRocco, ESPN
Thomas was a massive bust free agent signing a 5-year, $46 million deal. Thomas has the athletic talent to bounce back, but the question is whether he's ever going to try hard again.  -Walter

Kansas City Chiefs:
Comment on these NFL Rumors
2/25: Jamaal Charles could be an option for the Eagles if/when the Chiefs release him. - Tim McManus, ESPN
Charles is owed $6.2 million, so he's likely to be a cap casualty. He played for Doug Pederson in Kansas City, so Charles wouldn't have any problems adjusting to the system. -Walter

2/15: The Chiefs are expected to decline Nick Foles' option, making him a free agent. - Mike Garafolo, NFL Network
The Chiefs wisely don't want to spend $10.4 million on Foles, who struggled in relief of Alex Smith last year. We have the Chiefs selecting a quarterback in the first round of our 2017 NFL Mock Draft. -Walter

2/9: Kansas City's GM John Dorsey endorses Alex Smith as the team's 2017 quarterback. - Pat Sweeney, KCTV5
Smith continues to do just enough to be a useful starter, but not enough to get Kansas City over the hump. Without anyone better on the horizon, this of course isn't surprising.  -Chet_G

Los Angeles Rams:
Comment on these NFL Rumors
2/19: The Rams could be a player for Kirk Cousins next offseason if Jared Goff continues to struggle. - Albert Breer, MMQB
The Rams gave up a king's ransom for Goff, but he was horrendous as a rookie. If he fails, and Cousins is franchised this offseason, the Rams might be willing to throw a ton of money Cousins' way. -Walter

2/13: Chances are the Rams are moving on from Kenny Britt. - Alden Gonzalez, ESPN
Britt has slacked off for most of his career, but he conveniently had a great season in his contract year. He's a major risk unless he's obtained for a 1-year "prove it" deal. He's seventh in our NFL Free Agent Wide Receiver Rankings. -Walter

1/23: DeSean Jackson is a "natural fit" for the Rams. - Aiden Gonzalez, ESPN
Jackson could continue playing for Sean McVay if he signed with the Rams this offseason. He also grew up in Los Angeles. Jackson is No. 5 in the 2017 NFL Free Agent Wide Receiver Rankings. -Walter

1/14: The Rams are expected to let Kenny Britt and Trumaine Johnson go in free agency. - Charles Robinson, Yahoo!
The Rams apparently want nothing to do with the Jeff Fisher era, so you have to wonder if they'd part ways with Jared Goof as well. -Walter

Miami Dolphins:
Comment on these NFL Rumors
2/21: Nickel cornerback K'Waun Williams has contract offers from the Jets, Dolphins, Lions and 49ers. - Matt Maiocco, CSN Bay Area
Williams was a solid nickel corner for the Browns before suffering an ankle injury that caused him to miss all of 2016. Williams is 21st in our NFL Free Agent Cornerback Rankings.

-Walter

2/16: Martellus Bennett is not an option for the Dolphins. - Armando Salguero, Miami Herald
Salguero cites that Bennett and Adam Gase had a big conflict in Chicago. The Dolphins need help at tight end, but they won't be signing the No. 1 free agent at that position. -Walter

1/23: <p>Mario Williams will be released this offseason. - Armando Salguero, Miami Herald
Williams is due $8.5 million, and based on his play in 2016, he's not even worth a quarter of that. Williams' days in the NFL are coming to an end. -Walter

1/12: The Dolphins wish to re-sign Kenny Stills, and they will be looking to upgrade Jermon Bushrod at guard. - Barry Jackson, Miami Herald
Both items make a lot of sense, just as long as they don't overpay for Stills, who is just an inconsistent deep threat. -Walter

Minnesota Vikings:
Comment on these NFL Rumors
2/15: The Vikings aren't expected to re-sign Captain Munnerlyn. - Matt Vensel, Minneapolis Star-Tribune
Minnesota has strong depth at cornerback, and Xavier Rhodes will be receiving a large contract, so the Vikings don't really have the cap space to retain their current slot corner. Munnerlyn is 11th in our NFL Free Agent Cornerback Rankings. -Walter

1/19: Adrian Peterson listed the Giants, Buccaneers and Texans as teams he'd like to play for next year. - Andrew Krammer, Minneapolis Star-Tribune
Given his massive salary and Minnesota's cap problems, it's unlikely Peterson will be back in Minnesota next year. It's unlikely Houston would sign Peterson because it has Lamar Miller, but New York and Tampa both make a lot of sense. -Walter

1/17: The Vikings are expected to cut Brandon Fusco. - Ben Goessling, ESPN
Fusco signed a 5-year, $25 million deal, but has struggled ever since inking the contract.  -Walter

New England Patriots:
Comment on these NFL Rumors
2/21: It will be "hard" for the Patriots to re-sign Martellus Bennett. - Ian Rapoport, NFL Network
It's unclear how it'll be hard, considering the Patriots have more than $60 million in cap space. Bennett is going to get a big pay day, and New England simply may not want to fork over the money. -Walter

2/19: The Patriots will "make a run" at Martellus Bennett. - Mark Daniels, Providence Journal
Bennett is listed atop the NFL Free Agent Tight End Rankings, so he's going to command a sizable contract. The Patriots, however, have $61.1 million in cap space, so they can afford to re-sign him for insurance purposes. Then again, this draft class is loaded at tight end, so perhaps the Patriots will just let him walk. -Walter

2/16: The Patriots are not expected to trade Jimmy Garoppolo. - Ed Werder, ESPN
For now. This could be a ploy to increase Garoppolo's trade value, which, according to everyone, is the second round. Charlie Campbell recently reported that the Texans believed New England's asking price to be too high. The 49ers, meanwhile, have expressed interest in Garoppolo, but if they can't get him, they could be forced to trade for Kirk Cousins. -Walter

2/13: The Patriots are not expected to get into a bidding war for Martellus Bennett. - Mike Reiss, ESPN
Bennett was a nice 1-year rental for the Patriots, but they won't overpay him. Bennett, who turns 30 this offseason, is atop our NFL Free Agent Tight End Rankings. -Walter

2/12: The Patriots are expected to get a second-round pick for Jimmy Garoppolo. - Ben Volin, Boston Globe
Charlie Campbell reported at the Senior Bowl that the Texans thought the Patriots' asking price for Garoppolo was too high, and other teams apparently think the same thing. Right now, the favorite to land Garoppolo would be the 49ers, who would surrender the 34th-overall pick, but New England will have lots of suitors as long as it doesn't expect a first-rounder in return. -Walter

2/9: Dont'a Hightower is expected to hit free agency. - Tom Curran, CSN NE
Tom Curran reports that there have been no significant talks between the Patriots and Hightower, who happens to be listed atop the NFL Free Agent Inside Linebacker Rankings. -Walter

-Walter

1/31: "There has been talk that the New England Patriots are seeking a first-round pick for backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, but in surveying teams around the league, they don't think Garoppolo is worthy of that price tag." - Charlie Campbell, WalterFootball.com
Two general managers think Garoppolo is worth a third-round pick, so he'll probably fetch a second-rounder. -Walter

New Orleans Saints:
Comment on these NFL Rumors
2/8: The Saints could trade for Jimmy Garoppolo. - Albert Breer, MMQB
Albert Breer is just speculating, but it's a reminder that the Patriots have options to deal Garoppolo outside of the obvious destinations (Browns, 49ers, etc.) Drew Brees doesn't have much time left, so Garoppolo would be a high-potential successor. -Walter

New York Giants:
Comment on these NFL Rumors
2/16: Adrian Peterson remarked that the moves the Giants have made this offseason are interesting. -
The interesting move is the Giants cutting Rashad Jennings. Peterson, however, projects as a poor fit in the Giants' shotgun-heavy offense. -Walter

2/9: The Giants are expected to move on from Rashad Jennings. - Jordan Raanan, ESPN
Jennings is coming off a bad year and happens to have a cap figure of more than $3 million. Cutting him is a no-brainer. Here are the top NFL Free Agent Running Back Rankings. -Walter

1/11: The Giants aren't expected to prioritize re-signing Johnathan Hankins this offseason. - David Duggan, NJ.com
Hankins struggled in 2016, but dealt with an injury. He'll likely rebound next year. -Walter

New York Jets:
Comment on these NFL Rumors
2/22: The Jets are expected to have interest in Jay Cutler when he's cut. - Jason La Canfora, CBS
There probably won't be a trade, with Cutler not being cleared medically (shoulder) until March. We've learned, however, that the Jets were briefed on how to handle attitude and mood swings.

-Walter

2/16: Darrelle Revis was injured in a street fight in Pittsburgh. -
No word if Blanka was involved. There are two sides of this story; one has Revis as the aggressor, while the other has Revis being attacked by five individuals. His lawyer has stated the latter. Either way, Revis is unlikely to return to the Jets next year. -Walter

2/14: There's a 60-percent chance the Jets part ways with Nick Mangold and Brandon Marshall, and a 75-percent chance they release Darrelle Revis. - Darryl Slater, NJ.com
I'd vastly increase those percentages for Marshall and Revis. As you can see in the New York Jets Team Needs page, the Jets have a ton of needs and happen to be over the salary cap. -Walter

2/13: The Jets will probably release Ryan Clady by Wednesday. - Rich Cimini, ESPN
Clady was a bust signing, as he couldn't stay healthy. Offensive tackle was already listed highly in the New York Jets NFL Team Needs page. -Walter

2/9: The Jets won't pursue Jay Cutler. - Rich Cimini, ESPN
Jason La Canfora speculated that the Jets could go after Cutler because they hired his former quarterbacks coach, but this report says the Jets have no interest. Here are the top NFL Free Agent Quarterback Rankings. -Walter

2/8: The Jets are a possibility to acquire Jay Cutler. - Jason La Canfora, CBS
The Jets just hired Cutler's former quarterbacks coach, so that's the connection. Cutler can start while the Jets continue to develop Christian Hackenberg. The Jets NFL Team Needs page is available here. -Walter

2/8: Brandon Marshall told the media that the Jets have given him no indication that they want to release him. - Darryl Slater, NJ.com
Marshall is coming off a horrible year, and he's owed $7.5 million. The Jets are also over the salary cap. Marshall may not have been given any indication yet, but it's hard to imagine him being back in New York. -Walter

2/4: The Jets have their eyes set on Mike Glennon. - Connor Hughes, NJ.com
Signing Glennon is a fine move, as long as they don't overpay. Adam Schefter predicted that Glennon would earn upwards of $15 million annually, which would be way too much. Glennon is No. 3 in our NFL Free Agent Quarterback Rankings. -Walter

1/30: The Jets could be interested in Colin Kaepernick. - Darryl Slater, NJ.com
Kaepernick played for new offensive coordinator John Morton, so there's a connection. The problem is that Kaepernick is terrible. -Walter

1/17: The Jets are expected to cut Brandon Marshall this offseason.  - Rich Cimini, ESPN
Marshall appears to have lost a step, and he reportedly caused issues in the locker room. The Jets are better off moving on and rebuilding.  -Walter

1/16: The Jets will have interest in free agent quarterback Mike Glennon. - Rich Cimini, ESPN
If this is true, Jet fans should be prepared for more pedestrian quarterbacking. Glennon is ranked just one spot above Ryan Fitzpatrick in our NFL Free Agent Quarterback Rankings. -Walter

Oakland Raiders:
Comment on these NFL Rumors
2/26: Latavius Murray is expected to hit free agency. - Josina Anderson, ESPN
The Raiders could bring him back, but they reportedly want the market to set a price for him. Murray is fifth in our NFL Free Agent Running Back Rankings. -Walter

2/21: The Raiders are unlikely to re-sign cornerback D.J. Hayden. - Paul Gutierrez, ESPN
Hayden was one of many first-round busts from the 2013 NFL Draft. He's currently 23rd in our NFL Free Agent Cornerback Rankings, though he'd be lower if it weren't for his potential. -Walter

2/13: The Raiders are expected to move on from Latavius Murray. - Vic Tafur, San Francisco Chronicle
This is not a surprise, as the Raider coaching staff was reluctant to give Murray the majority of the workload. Murray is No. 5 in our NFL Free Agent Running Back Rankings. -Walter

1/11: Latavius Murray told the media that he would like to re-sign with the Raiders. -
This is strange, as the Oakland coaching staff often wanted to feature the other running backs. Murray is the fourth-ranked unrestricted free agent running back. -Walter

Philadelphia Eagles:
Comment on these NFL Rumors
2/23: The Eagles are unlikely to re-sign ILB Stephen Tulloch. - Jeff McClane, Philly.com
Tulloch is 33rd in our NFL Free Agent Inside Linebacker Rankings so there was no need for the Eagles to retain him. -Walter

2/23: The Eagles will retain Jason Peters. - Ian Rapoport, NFL Network
Peters is owed about $10 million in 2017, but the Eagles have a legitimate chance to make a deep playoff run, so they're wise to keep him. Peters turned 35 in January, but he had a great season in 2016. -Walter

2/21: The Eagles likely won't re-sign Bennie Logan. - Zach Berman, Philadelphia Inquirer
Logan is a terrific run-stuffer, though he struggled a bit in 2016 because of a groin injury. He's eighth in our NFL Free Agent Defensive Tackle Rankings. -Walter

2/10: Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports "several league sources anticipate" the Eagles trying to sign free agent Alshon Jeffery. - Jason La Canfora, CBS Sports
Jeffery would be a great fit with the Eagles and their skeleton crew at wide receiver. Jeffery is the best receiver on the market and won't come cheap, but with a good, young quarterback in Carson Wentz, it would make sense to do their due diligence on Jeffery, who is second in our NFL Free Agent Wide Receiver Rankings. -Chet_G

2/10: The Eagles are expected to trade Mychal Kendricks this offseason. - Jimmy Kempski, Philly Voice
Kendricks was a great fit in the 3-4, but struggled in Jim Schwartz's 4-3 scheme. The Eagles should be able to obtain a mid-round pick for Kendricks. -Walter

2/2: The Eagles will pursue Kenny Stills if the Dolphins don't re-sign him. - Eliot Shorr-Parks, NJ.com
Stills is a situational deep threat, and he would make for a decent third receiver in Philadelphia's offense. -Walter

1/25: The Eagles are expected to cut Leodis McKelvin.  - Jimmy Kempski, Philly Voice
The Eagles torched McKelvin late in 2015, yet signed him the following offseason for some reason. The Eagles would save $3.2 million by cutting him. Check out the Philadelphia Eagles Team Needs here. -Walter

1/18: Ryan Mathews will likely be released if he doesn't take a pay cut. - Jimmy Kempski, Philly Voice
Philadelphia's coaches have made it clear that they don't like Mathews very much. The Eagles are looking for a new running back, and I have them taking one in the second round of my 2017 NFL Mock Draft.  -Walter

Pittsburgh Steelers:
Comment on these NFL Rumors
2/16: GM Kevin Colbert said that he wants to re-sign Landry Jones, and that pursuing a successor for Ben Roethlisberger wasn't a high priority this offseason. -
It's unreal that the Steelers refuse to admit how horrible Jones is. Jones has been a boon for preseason NFL bettors, as fading the Steelers has been a great way to win money because Jones is so terrible. Jones is 22nd in our NFL Free Agent Quarterback Rankings, just ahead of Kellen Moore and Mark Sanchez. -Walter

2/8: Several teams have inquired about Antonio Brown, but the Steelers have declined all offers. - Mike Freeman, NFL Reporter
Brown caused some locker room problems this season, but the Steelers apparently have no interest in trading him. Brown's talent is just too great to give up on him. -Walter

2/8: It's unclear if the Steelers want to re-sign Lawrence Timmons. - Ed Bouchette, Pittsburgh Post-Gazette
Timmons was once one of the most underrated players in the NFL, but his play has regressed tremendously over the past couple of seasons. Timmons is 12th in the NFL Free Agent Inside Linebacker Rankings. -Walter

1/30: The Steelers aren't expected to re-sign Jarvis Jones. - Jeremy Fowler, ESPN
Jones has been a big disappointment thus far. He's No. 7 in the NFL Free Agent Outside Linebacker Rankings just based solely on his potential as a former first-round pick. -Walter

San Diego Chargers:
Comment on these NFL Rumors
1/17: The Chargers are expected to cut Brandon Flowers. - Eric Williams, ESPN
Flowers, 31 this offseason, has a history of concussions, and he has hinted about retirement. -Walter

San Francisco 49ers:
Comment on these NFL Rumors
2/21: Nickel cornerback K'Waun Williams has contract offers from the Jets, Dolphins, Lions and 49ers. - Matt Maiocco, CSN Bay Area
Williams was a solid nickel corner for the Browns before suffering an ankle injury that caused him to miss all of 2016. Williams is 21st in our NFL Free Agent Cornerback Rankings. -Walter

-Walter

2/17: The 49ers could pursue Brian Hoyer. - Matt Barrows, Sacramento Bee
Hoyer would serve as a veteran bridge for their next quarterback. He did a solid job in relief last year, and he's No. 2 in our NFL Free Agent Quarterback Rankings. -Walter

2/14: People who know Kyle Shanahan believe he'll be tempted by Kirk Cousins. - John Keim, ESPN
The problem is that the Redskins will almost certainly franchise Cousins, making the reunion between the two very unlikely. Cousins is No. 1, by a wide margin, in our NFL Free Agent Quarterback Rankings. -Walter

2/13: Matt Schaub told the media that he wants to go to a team that will let him start in 2017. -
Matt Schaub, everyone! He'll be here all week! Schaub's only realistic chance to start, outside of injury, is to follow his former offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan to San Francisco, where can play until a rookie the team drafts is ready. Then again, the 49ers could trade for Jimmy Garoppolo. Schaub is currently No. 14 in our NFL Free Agent Quarterback Rankings. -Walter

2/5: Matt Schaub could follow Kyle Shanahan to San Francisco this offseason. - Adam Schefter, ESPN
Schaub would sadly be an upgrade as a No. 2 over Blaine Gabbert, especially because he knows Shanahan's offense very well. -Walter

1/21: The 49ers will "go hard" after Kirk Cousins if he becomes available. - Adam Schefter, ESPN
The 49ers are desperate for a quarterback, and Cousins would be light years better than what they've had since Jim Harbaugh left. The 49ers have no talent on their offensive roster outside of Joe Staley and Carlos Hyde, but Cousins may find the prospect of working with Kyle Shanahan again to be appealing. Cousins is by far the top-ranked player in the NFL Free Agent Quarterback Rankings. -Walter

Seattle Seahawks:
Comment on these NFL Rumors
2/24: The Seahawks could pursue Breno Giacomini. - Stephen Cohen, Seattle Post Intelligencer
Seahawk fans better hope not. Giacomini once played for Seattle, but he was horrible for the Jets. Giacomini is 29th in our NFL Free Agent Offensive Tackle Rankings. -Walter

-Walter

2/9: The Seahawks signed kicker Blair Walsh. - Field Yates, ESPN
Walsh was let go from Minnesota because he couldn't get his game right, but with Steven Hauschka a free agent, Walsh should get a good chance to win the job. He has proven himself to be one of the best kickers in the league when he's on.&amp;nbsp; -Chet_G

Tennessee Titans:
Comment on these NFL Rumors
2/24: Alterraun Verner is not in play for the Titans. - Paul Kuharsky, ESPN
Verner once played well for the Titans, but he's apparently not welcome back. Verner was horrible in Tampa and is currently 22nd in our 2017 NFL Free Agent Cornerback Rankings. -Walter

1/23: Jason McCourty is a candidate for release this offseason. - Terry McCormick, Titan Insider
McCourty is a middling cornerback due $7 million in 2017, so it's understandable that the Titans would want to cut him. -Walter

Washington Redskins:
Comment on these NFL Rumors
2/25: The Redskins are likely to pursue Calais Campbell. - John Keim, ESPN
Campbell would be a great fit, and he's one of the best free agents available. Campbell is sixth overall in the Top 100 NFL Free Agent Rankings. -Walter

2/22: The Redskins are wondering if they can sign Tony Romo when he's released. - Jason Cole, Yahoo!
This would be an interesting move by the Redskins if they receive two first-round picks for Cousins from the 49ers. That would help salvage the situation, and Washington could take a quarterback with the 17th-overall pick (or perhaps San Francisco's 2018 first-rounder.) -Walter

2/21: Tampa Bay is a landing spot for DeSean Jackson. - Josina Anderson, ESPN
The Buccaneers need a second receiver with Vincent Jackson being on his last legs. I have to wonder if they'd want a problematic locker room guy around Jameis Winston, however. Jackson is No. 5 in our NFL Free Agent Wide Receiver Rankings. -Walter

2/17: "People who know" Kirk Cousins say that Cousins doesn't want to be with the Redskins anymore. - Jason Reid, ESPN
Cousins is apparently fed up with the front office. If he leaves, his most likely destination would be San Francisco to reunite with Kyle Shanahan. I've discussed a potential Redskins-49ers Kirk Cousins Trade here. -Walter

2/9: The Redskins view DeSean Jackson and are expected to move on from him. - Mike Jones, Washington Post
That's exactly what Jackson is, as he's a one-trick pony who disappears on occasion. Jackson is fifth in our 2017 NFL Free Agent Wide Receiver Rankings. -Walter

2/9: Rams, Eagles, Bears, Cowboys and 49ers are expected to have interest in Pierre Garcon. - Mike Jones, Washington Post
Four of those five teams are desperate for a receiver, with Chicago being the outlier. However, Alshon Jeffery is a free agent, which would explain the Bears' interest. Garcon is No. 3 in our&nbsp;<a href="http://walterfootball.com/freeagents2017WR.php" target="_blank">NFL Free Agent Wide Receiver Rankings</a>. -Walter

2/7: DeSean Jackson told the media that he plans on testing the market. -
Jackson will be hitting free agency for the first time, so he wants to see what he can earn in the final big contract of his career. He's been linked to the Eagles and Rams. -Walter

1/30: The Redskins will be targeting Eagles nose tackle Bennie Logan in free agency. - Mark Eckel, NJ.com
The Redskins desperately need a nose tackle, and Logan is a very good run-stuffer. Logan is eighth in our 2017 NFL Free Agent Defensive Tackle Prospect Rankings. -Walter

1/25: Kirk Cousins didn't respond positively when asked about re-signing with the Redskins. -
"I think you have to have an open mind, but ultimately it's not in my hands in the sense that the team is going to make that decision, and I'll react accordingly," Cousins said. It sounds as if he's resigned to the fact that the Redskins will franchise him. -Walter

1/24: Redskins team president Bruce Allen said that on a scale from 1 to 10, Kirk Cousins' chances of returning to the Redskins was a 10. -
Cousins is likely to be overpaid this offseason, but it's not like the Redskins have much of a choice. Cousins is far and away the top player in the NFL Free Agent Quarterback Rankings.

-Walter
