Titans have the best defense in there division... I'm dead.
We all know he has a major hard-on for the Seahawks, but this new Eagles boner is a bit of a shock.
We'll have to resort to Walt-logic for this one.
IF Matthews didn't fumble, they would've beaten the Lions
IF Wentz didn't have a bad game against the Skins, they would've won
IF the Eagles won the coin toss in the first Dallas game, they would've won
IF Wentz didn't throw 2 picks against the Giants, they would've won.
As you can see, the Eagles were clearly a 13-3 team last year. They just had some misfortune.
My take on Atlanta not running the ball to set up the field goal in the Super Bowl: Tevin Coleman was Injured, Devonte Freeman had to go into hiding because of the warrant for attempted Murder of Matt Ryan and they had nobody else at RB. In all honesty, I really do think that the No-Block by Freeman caused the Falcons to not trust him at the end of the game. If they had Coleman, they honestly probably would've ran with him when they got in FG Range.
"...and that record would be 6-0 if Ryan Mathews hadn't fumbled at the end of the Detroit game"
@walter You rely on too many "if's" when evaluating NFL teams. I could do the same.
IF Brock Osweiler wasn't the Texans QB, they would've beaten the Pats
IF Norwood made a FG, the Bills would've won a SB
IF Devonta Freeman picked up a routine block, the Falcons would've won the SB
IF Shanahan ran the ball, the Falcons would've won the SB
etc, etc, etc
Atlanta has played the most games this season against top ten teams in the sagarin ratings and are ted for 2nd best in league in most games above .500 this year versus those teams.
Falcons have a +9 overall net wins in their games decided by double digits this season only behind new England with +11. The Packers were only at +1 overall for the season bsically getting blown out 4 times.
If you look at entire body of work there just is no way Falcons haven't been head and shoulders above packers this season. Laying one egg isn't close to the packers getting hammered numerous times throughout this season. There's no way to justify green bay being ahead of Atlanta as every single time the Packers faced a good offense they got throttled going, 1-6 overall against a top 12 offense and just take look how bad those losses were too.
Sooner or later you have to go by results and not try and make something fit a narrative. The evidence was overwhelming that Atlanta was much better team this year and the 6.5 closing spread at pinnacle along with blowout win yesterday confirmed this.
It appears that butthurt Walt has deleted my comment so I will reiterate.
WE ARE ACHIEVING LEVELS OF BUTTHURT WITH WALT OTHERWISE THOUGHT IMPOSSIBLE.
Never have I ever seen a sports "analyst" so set in his ways so early on about a team. Every week the Falcons continue to beat teams and beat the spread, and Walt has new excuses ringing the same tune. Fool me once... fool me twice... now fool me for 18 games?
Walt, man up. You were wrong. The Falcons are legit.
Wow, the Falcons run for 100 yards against the Seahawks and they're still soft because they lost to the Eagles on the road (despite a competitive game) and the Chiefs won in the Dome several weeks ago by "having their way" with Atlanta, a game they were losing before an unfortunate and unlikely pick two by Matt Ryan. Little do you mention that the Falcons could easily be 13-3 with some minor luck (Matt Bryant kick in SD game is good, Julio catches the drop-int in Seahawks game). But hey, keep bending over backwards to defend the Chargers for being much better than their record.
You know, the funny thing about this is that you'll probably still have the Packers ranked above the Falcons next week after the Falcons beat them (with the excuse of the refs being terrible as well as some great luck by the Falcons). Weird how Ryan is playing at the same level (if not better) as Aaron Rodgers and the Falcons defense has been much better down the stretch than the Packers defense, yet the Falcons are at 5 while Packers are 1. I have a feeling this has something to do with Matt Ryan prejudice - you thought he was going to be a game manager quarterback and when he plays like an MVP, there's always an excuse to downplay his success because you don't like admitting you were wrong about him.
CALLED IT. lmao I KNEW you were going to have the Packers ahead of the Falcons.
Hey idiot, regardless of whether or not the Falcons had some luck, they were leading 31 to NOTHING just after half time. That's not just luck. And that's the second time they've beaten the Packers this season.
The Falcons were in Rodgers's head all game long. They rattled him. He still played at a high level relative to most NFL quarterbacks. But he was erratic for Rodgers. That was no mistake.
Also, let's look at each of the Packers' scoring drives.
GB First Scoring Drive: Good drive, some great throws and catches.
GB Second Scoring Drive: Jalen Collins doesn't catch interception, drive was extended as a result
GB Third Scoring Drive: Rodgers has to convert 4th and 18. It wasn't a lucky conversion (great pass by Rodgers) but if the game were closer, the Packers would certainly have punted. Also, Ripkowski loses fumble but the referees don't catch it. Quinn doesn't bother challenging.
Packers got unlucky that they didn't recover two fumbles but they were also lucky the fumbles happened in the first place, as Atlanta has done an amazing job not turning the ball over all year
tl;dr walter is full of @#$@
Really walt, the falcons crush two the best teams in the nfl and you are still giving them crap. How can u call yourself a sports analyst when u put the packers in front of the falcons after getting crushed and then call them OVERRATED. What do you have against the falcons that makes you hate them so much. Is it because they got "Bullied in the trenches" by Philadelphia. You need to watch a football game sometime not just say stupid stuff.
"Overrated NFL team: Despite their Super Bowl appearance, the Falcons are not one of the 2 best teams in the NFL."
In other words...
"Underrated NFL team: Despite their undeniable demolition in the NFC Championship game, the Packers still give me a tingle up my leg. Signed Tender Tail Walt."
The old fluky blowout -- I hate it when that happens.
Walt -- C'mon.
"Packers spent the entire afternoon making unforced errors...fumbling at the 5-yard line"
We must have been watching different games, because in the GB-Atl game I saw today Collins made a great play to rip the ball out of Ripkowski's arms and recover it.. But I guess you'll just keep your blinders on and only see what confirms your biases.
